When we organized our first Clube da Musica Festival in de Roode Bioscoop in Amsterdam, we were called by a nice Brazilian man from Haarlem with the message that there was a young jazz group from Natal coming from Japan and that their connecting flight was scheduled for a couple of days later. So, they had some time to play some concerts…
Just one hour before that phone call, we had got a cancellation and faced a gap in our program! We thanked synchronicity and invited Macaxeira Jazz to come over and play. And they were good! We played a radio gig and they were two days at our festival. We became good friends.
In 2009 they organized a tour for us in Natal, formerly known as Nova Amsterdam. We created a new edition of the Clube da Musica series: Atibaia-Nova Amsterdam. We brought a group from Atibaia and me from Amsterdam and we played a nice tour.
In june 2011 I was invited to go to Natal again! We played concerts together again and did some recordings. In October I was happy to receive Macaxeira again in Amsterdam, for a date at the Brasil Festival 2011.
