Since 2010, I’ve had the pleasure of a rich musical collaboration with harpist Remy van Kesteren. From crafting original harp compositions and performing in his eclectic bands to working alongside Claron McFadden and Kees van Kooten, and undertaking large-scale orchestral projects with symphony orchestras both in the Netherlands and abroad, our journey has been diverse and inspiring. However, simply labeling us as ‘pianist’ and ‘harpist’ hardly does justice to their musical contributions. We both compose, arrange, and frequently improvise on stage, while also playing a variety of instruments. The already rich sounds of the grand piano and harp are further expanded with tools like the vibrandoneon, laptop, Prophet-6, and Korg synthesizer. At Remy’s feet lies a spaghetti-like tangle of cables, connecting to a range of loop and effects pedals, adding yet another layer to our boundary-pushing performances.
Starting in 2025, we’ll be back on stage together! So, tune in to Remy Martin—and perhaps enjoy it with a glass of a certain well-known drink on the side.
