It must have been around the age of 15 when I discovered a lot of new music. Thanks to friends who loved jazz and jazz-influenced genres, I was introduced to Weather Report, Miles Davis (Decoy!), and, most notably, Pat Metheny. The first record I owned by this masterful artist was Offramp, featuring the captivating and accessible opening track, James. I found this gem at a “Discotheek” — a kind of mobile record library that frequented every two weeks my small town in the south of the Netherlands.
Many years later, I had the incredible opportunity to collaborate with Pat Metheny. A dream I didn’t even know I had came true! What an extraordinary artist and passionate musician. Thank you, Pat, for this wonderful experience — for being fully present, prepared, open, and effortlessly musical in every moment.
